Commuters travelling by public transportation in Italy 2019, by employment status
In 2019, about ten percent of the employed population in Italy travelled by public transportation or shared transportation to reach their workplace. The highest percentage of employed individuals commuting by public transport was registered in the northern region of Liguria. The share of students commuters was about three times higher (32.4 percent). In some regions, over 40 percent of students used to travel by public transportation or shared transportation.
