Brazil: footwear consumption volume 2017-2020

Considering an optimistic scenario, the apparent consumption of footwear in Brazil could decline by approximately 21 percent in 2020, when compared to the consumption a year earlier. From 2017 to 2019, the South American country registered a constant increase in the apparent consumption of this type of items, reaching in 2019 over 821 million pairs of shoes. Due to the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Brazilian footwear production could experience an even stronger decline in 2020.
