Mismatch between expected Christmas gifts and gifts received in France 2019
Under the Christmas tree, the French were likely to experience some disappointment when they opened their packages in 2019. In fact, 71 percent were hoping to receive money as a gift, but only 59 percent had decided to offer it. This was even more true for the 53 percent of people who dreamed of high-tech items, whereas only 19 percent had included them on their shopping list. The third most expected gift was travelling or going out, with more than 49 percent of votes, compared to only 12 percent who would opt for this choice of gift at Christmas.
