Impact of COVID-19 on projected inflation in Algeria 2020-2021
Prior to the occurrence of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, inflation in Algeria for 2020 and 2021 was projected at 4 and 5.4 percent, respectively. However, under a baseline scenario where COVID-19 subsides by July 2020, the inflation rate is estimated to reach 3.5 percent in 2020 and 3.7 percent in 2021. Moreover, under a worst-case assumption, the inflation rate in 2020 and 2021 is expected to be 3.9 and 3.7 percent respectively.
