COVID-19 in Latin America: effect on pediatric cancer treatment

According to a survey carried out in April 2020 in 20 Latin American countries, nearly half of the pediatric doctors interviewed assured that they changed or cancelled scheduled pediatric cancer surgeries amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. Meanwhile, almost one third of the respondents changed or cancelled pediatric radiotherapies due to the health crisis. In 2019, children younger than four years old represented around 0.1 percent of all cancer patients in Colombia.
