Attendance at performing arts renditions in Japan from 2011 to 2021
In 2021, the number of attendances at performing arts stage performances in Japan amounted to approximately 18.7 million. Performing arts covers a broad spectrum of performances, including plays, musicals, and various forms of traditional Japanese theater types such as kabuki, noh, and kyogen, among others. The number of performances declined significantly due to restrictions caused by the advent of the COVID-19 pandemic.
