Impact of social media on society in Tanzania 2021
As of 2021, most of the surveyed population in Tanzania believed that social media makes the society more informed about current events. Nearly 90 percent of the respondents agreed or strongly agreed on that. Simultaneously, a large share of Tanzanians recognized that social media makes people more likely to believe in fake news (76 percent) as well as increases intolerance against individuals with different political opinions (71 percent).
