China: spending on pets among millionaires

A survey conducted among Chinese millionaires in 2021 showed that more than 60 percent of millionaires spent over 8,000 yuan on their pets a year. Around 22 percent of respondents spent more than 10,000 yuan. On average, respondents spent around 8,200 yuan on one pet each year. Dogs are the most popular pets among China's super-rich.

The survey was conducted among 750 respondents with personal assets of over ten million yuan. Around 40 of the respondents were with personal assets over 100 million yuan.
50 percent of respondents were female. 50 percent of respondents were male.
40 percent of respondents were from tier-1 cities, 60 percent were from new tier-1 and tier-2 cities.
The respondents' average age was 37 years old, and the average personal assets of respondents were 42 million yuan.
The average number of real estate owned by respondents was three, and the average living space is 275 square meters.
