Number of asylum applications in Sweden 2022, by country of origin
In 2022, people from Ukraine made up the largest group of asylum applicants in Sweden, with over 2,000 people. Of these, over 900 were women. Meanwhile, the highest number of male asylum seekers came from Afghanistan, which was also the country from which the second highest total number of asylum applications in Sweden were registered. With over 1,300 applicants from Syria, this was the country with the third highest number of asylum seekers in Sweden in 2022.
