Natural gas is the most widely used fuel by Canada's chemical industry. In 2021, the chemical sector in the North American country consumed over 156 petajoules of such fuel. This was followed by electricity and steam, with a consumption of approximately 75.3 and 27.4 petajoules, respectively. That same year, the total energy consumption of Canada's chemical industry amounted to some 263.4 petajoules.
