The energy consumed by Canada's chemical industry amounted to some 263.51 petajoules in 2022, down from 266.45 petajoules one year earlier. This represents a decline of roughly 12 percent in comparison to 2014, when Canada's chemical sector reported its highest consumption of energy within the indicated period, surpassing 300 petajoules. Meanwhile, the greenhouse gas emissions of Canada's chemical industry amounted to 5.7 million metric tons of CO2 equivalent in 2021.
