Automotive R&D spending worldwide 2020-2022
In 2022, the U.S. is expected to spend 48.4 billion U.S. dollars on automotive research and development, which represents around 39 percent of the global automotive R&D spending. That year, global spending is tipped to reach 124 billion U.S. dollars, a year-over-year growth of 6.8 percent. Investments in the electric vehicle market have partly been boosting R&D costs.
