In 2021, the apparel sector spent around 1.9 million U.S. dollars on magazine advertising in South Africa, up 12 percent from about 1.7 million dollars one year before. Despite the annual increase, the 2021 figure amounted to less than 42 percent of the 4.6-million-dollar magazine ad spending recorded in 2019, before the pandemic.
