EU: share of new vehicle models by selected fuel type 2019-2026
In the 2022 Model Year, 34 percent of all new vehicle models in the European Union were petrol and diesel vehicles. This share had shrunk from 67 percent in 2019 down to 25 percent in 2020, and is not forecast to increase further than its 2022 peak. In contrast, based on manufacturers' plans, the share of new battery-electric vehicle models has been growing with each new Model Year, and should make up over half the new models on the market from 2023 onwards.
