In 2018, there were a total of 9,654 wineries in the United States producing wine. Since 2009, the number of wineries in the U.S. has grown by over 50 percent. Well known as the major wine producing region of the U.S., California had 4,391 wineries in 2018, over five times that of Oregon, the next closest in wineries in the nation.
Even with the growing number of wineries, the U.S. was only ranked fourth worldwide in terms of wine production, with Italy ranked number one, at 51 million hectoliters of wine manufactured in the year.
