Comic book reading by young people in the United Kingdom 2017-2022, by format
In 2020 and 2022 in the United Kingdom, 28.4 percent of children and young people aged between eight/nine* and 18 years old reported having read print comics outside of school, up from 27.3 percent in 2019. Whilst media consumption generally increased during the coronavirus lockdown, comic book readership only grew slightly, and print consumption remained lower than in the 2017 to 2018 period. On the contrary, on-screen consumption increased in 2022, compared to previous surveys.
