This statistic shows the 20 leading magazines in Germany in the first quarter of 2017, ranked by circulation. Television magazine tv14 sold almost 2.24 million copies during the period of consideration. TV Digital and TV Direkt ranked second and third highest at roughly 1.6 and 1.11 million copies sold. TV 14 also generated the highest retail sales revenue among magazines in Germany in 2015, at 50.6 million euros.
Reading periodicals is still a popular leisure activity in Germany, with 30.33 million people having stated that they liked reading magazines during their free time several times a week in 2016. The largest magazine publishing houses in Germany include Bauer, Burda, Springer, Gruner + Jahr and Funke. As of 2017, according to the Association of German Magazine Publishers (Verband Deutscher Zeitschriftenverleger), almost 1,600 consumer magazine titles were available in Germany.
