Magazines ranked by circulation in Germany Q1 2019

Leading magazines ranked by circulation in Germany in 1st quarter 2019

by Evgeniya Koptyug, last edited May 29, 2019
Magazines ranked by circulation in Germany Q1 2019 The magazines in Germany with the highest circulation numbers were all TV guides: TV 14, TV Digital and Hörzu. Circulation figures ranged from 946,700 to almost two million copies. Each is published by some of Germany’s and Europe’s most successful media companies. Hörzu, in fact, is the oldest among these magazines, looking back on several decades of history.
Highs and lows

Several other TV program guides rank among the most printed German magazines, reflecting the fact that television remains ones of the most used mediums in Germany. Daily TV viewing time has also remained high during recent years. It has become a tradition to have a TV guide lying beside the television set, within easy reach. However, while the aforementioned magazines largely papered the German magazine landscape, they are also among those who have suffered the highest year-on-year circulation losses, which is not an unfamiliar development on the print media market in general.

Magazine flipping

In terms of reach, TV guides ranked somewhat lower than such heavyweights as the Sunday edition of the tabloid newspaper Bild, Bild am Sonntag or the news magazine Der Spiegel. The same could be said for best-selling consumer magazines in Germany, with Der Spiegel, Stern and women’s magazine Bunte in the lead.
