This statistic shows the income generated by arts and cultural organizations regularly funded by Arts Council England in financial years 2015/16 and 2017/18, split by income type. Compared to 2015/16, the level of income earned by arts organizations through their own trading and activities has increased, from 850 million to 894 million British pounds in 2017/18.
Arts Council England is the national development agency providing government and lottery funding for the arts in England.

Definitions according to the source are as follows:
Earned income: All income generated by the organizations own artistic, educational and supplementary activitiy, including trading income and bank interest.
Arts Council England subsidy includes both government and lottery funding.
Contributed income: Includes sponsorships from business organizations, income from corporate membership schemes, trusts or foundations and the general public (where no benefit is received in return).
Local authority subsidy: All subsidies received from local authorities including revenue and project funding (not capital projects).
Other public subsidy: All other public sources including grants from universities, research bodies and other arts funding bodies, development corporation funding and revenue direct from central and/or European governments (not capital projects).
