In the 2022 fiscal year, two cultural organizations ranked in Forbes' list of the 100 largest charities in the United States: the Smithsonian Institution - a group of museums, research centers, and cultural facilities owned by the U.S. Federal Government - and the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. In the fiscal year ending September 30, 2022, the Smithsonian's total revenue amounted to roughly 1.5 billion U.S. dollars. Meanwhile, the Metropolitan Museum of Art's revenue reached 293 million U.S. dollars in the fiscal year ending June 30, 2022.
