The total amount of subsidies granted to arts and cultural organizations regularly funded by the Arts Council England (ACE) decreased by roughly 11.5 percent in 2020/2021 over the previous financial year. According to an ACE analysis, based on a constant sample of 682 organizations, theatres reported the highest figure, receiving nearly 108 million British pounds in subsidies in 2020/2021. Music organizations followed on the list, recording almost 80 million British pounds in ACE subsidies that year. Arts Council England is the national development agency providing government and lottery funding for the arts in England.
