The largest number of immigrants migrated from Morocco, which amounted to almost 40 thousand in 2017. Immigrants from Colombia saw the highest increase during that time, with numbers rising by 1,683 respectively, and reaching over 34 thousand throughout the last analyzed year. Of the total number of people immigrating into Spain in 2015, 38,427 were of Spanish nationality making up 20 percent of all immigrants. Venezuela was the most common country of origin, accounting for every fifth immigrant with Spanish nationality. This number saw a sharp increase in 2015, rising from 4,760 to 7,579 Spanish nationals immigrating into Spain from Venezuela. Overall the number of immigrants in Spain has been rising slightly, reaching 174,988 in 2015. In contrast, the number of immigrants with Spanish nationality in Spain saw a greater rise of 23 percent from 2014 to 2015. Overall the distribution of foreign nationals in Spain accounted for roughly 9.5 percent of the total population in 2017.
