The number of visitors to Imperial War Museums (IWM) in England declined by roughly 89 percent in 2020/2021 over the previous fiscal year due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. From March 2020 onwards, museums, galleries, and cultural institutions in the country had to close for long periods, as the government introduced emergency measures to limit the spread of the virus. As a result of the closures, Imperial War Museums reported an attendance of 269 thousand between April 2020 and March 2020, while the number of visitors reached around 2.5 million in 2019/2020.
