The graph shows preferred marketing communication channels according to consumers in the United States as of August 2015, by age and gender. During the survey, 65 percent of responding men aged 18 to 34 stated they would prefer to receive regular updates and promotions from brands via e-mail. E-mail ranked first among all four age and gender groups. Yet, only 39 percent of U.S. local businesses used e-mail for advertising purposes. During a survey, more than 50 percent of local businesses than did use e-mail marketing stated their e-mail marketing ROI was good, excellent or extraordinary.
