Number of patients active on organ transplant waiting list in Austria 2019-2021

In 2021, 970 patients were on the kidney transplant waiting list in Austria. This figure is the lowest waiting on the kidney transplant list in the provided time interval. The number of patients on the lung and heart transplant waiting list has also decreased since 2019.

Austrian transplant activity

There were 34 kidney transplant procedures per million population in Austria in 2021, a decrease from 2019 when the rate was 43.9. Kidney transplant procedures were the most carried out in Austria, followed by liver transplants at 17.7 per million and then lung transplants at 13.7 per million population.
