Italy: payment service share 2000-2021

The share of card payments over total transactions in Italy accounted for almost half of the total transactions in 2020 making it the most popular form of payment. E-money payments registered a considerable increase in relative importance as well over the period between 2014 and 2020, moving from 6.08 percent to 15 percent of total transactions. On the other hand, the share of credit transfer decreased by 5.9 percentage points.
