Number of domestic films theatrically released in Norway 2010-2023
From 2017 to 2019, the number of domestic cinema films released in Norway steadily descreased, amounting to 25 as of 2019. By comparison, in 2017, 35 Norwegian movies have been released in the country's theaters. In the year 2023, the number rose back to 35 Norwegian productions. The COVID-19 outbreak caused a significant decline of new releases which affected mostly North American and European productions and helped to increase the share of domestic productions.
