Change in box office revenue in selected European countries 2021
Throughout 2021, most countries in Europe reported an increase in box office revenue compared to 2020. However, all of them recorded a decrease in comparison to their results in 2019, before the COVID-19 outbreak. The United Kingdom, for instance, saw its box office gross nearly double between 2020 and 2021 – but, between 2019 and 2021, there was still a decline of about 50 percent. France was the European market where domestic films accounted for most of the movie ticket sales in 2021.
