Italy: crimes motivated by bias against LGBTI people

In 2021, 83 hate crimes were reported to the Italian police concerning bias against a particular sexual orientation or gender identity. The most common hate crimes were physical assaults and incitement to violence. Hate crimes are on the rise in Italy. In 2021, over a thousand hate crimes were registered by the police. As for racist and xenophobic crimes, the most common type of hate crime was incitement to violence.
