Since 1990, greenhouse gas emissions from pig waste made up the larger portion of greenhouse gas emitted. Overall, figures fluctuated between 1990 and 2005. From 2005 onwards, greenhouse gas emissions remained relatively stable, with emissions from enteric fermentation at 0.2 million metric tons of carbon dioxide equivalent and pig farm waste oscillating between 0.9 and one million metric tons of carbon dioxide equivalent.
