Italy: pharmacies' revenues 2017, by kind of product

This statistic depicts the pharmacies’ revenues in Italy in 2017, by type of product. As showed by the graph, the revenue derived from the selling of drugs on prescription was equal to 14.7 billion euros. On the other hand, the income generated by non-prescription drugs and by the commercial market was of 9.8 billion euros.
The turnover’s value derived from prescription drugs in recent years is falling, especially following the cuts to the public pharmaceutical expenditure and the dissemination of equivalent medicines. However, the loss has been compensated by the sales of non-prescription drugs and commercial products.
