Online auction sales of Christie's declined by roughly 18.4 percent in 2022 over the previous year. After experiencing a sharp increase in the first two years of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, peaking at 445 million U.S. dollars in 2021, the company's online-only sales decreased to 363 million U.S. dollars in 2022. Despite the drop, this was the second-highest result reported by the auction house. Meanwhile, total sales of Christie's worldwide peaked at around 8.4 billion U.S. dollars in 2022, the company's highest figure to date.
