Auction houses: online-only auctions worldwide 2023

The combined number of online-only auctions organized by Christie's, Sotheby's, and Phillips worldwide declined in 2023 compared to the previous year. After increasing sharply in 2020 with the onset of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, the combined number of online-only auctions held by the three companies experienced a decreasing trend in the following years. That said, it remained significantly higher than the pre-pandemic figures, totaling 464 in 2023.
