A total of roughly 4.9 million British pounds worth of public funding for Olympic ski and snowboard went towards the Winter Olympic Games 2018 in PyeongChang. Olympic figure skating has received 1.6 million British pounds of public funding, Olympic curling 5.4 million British pounds and Olympic bobsleigh 4.5 million British pounds.
The sales of skis and snowboards in Great Britain have decreased, as well as the sales performance of snow sports retailers in terms of outerwear and baselayers. The majority of people who go on snow sport holidays in the UK are over the age of 40 and only 15 percent are younger. Around half of snow sport vacationers buy snow sports equipment in a store in the UK and the rest in holiday resorts or online.
