Sunday, November 11, marks 100 years since the end of the First World War
. To commemorate the centenary of the Armistice, the Royal British Legion has launched its centenary Poppy Appeal. Thousands of volunteers will sell paper poppies to raise funds to for servicemen and woman and their families. The appeal traces its roots back to 1921 and in recent years, fundraising activities have proven hugely successful. Last year, the Royal British Legion
managed to raise just under £50 million. In 2007, the organization only managed to raise less than half that amount.
