Half of U.S. workers did not receive a raise over the last 12 months, according to a new survey conducted by Bankrate, which polled 1,000 people from November 25 to December 1. Of the people polled, 28 percent saw an increase in their wages.
The finding comes as the U.S. economy continues to do well. There hasn’t been a recession in a decade, which is a first in American history, CNBC reported December 19. For 126 consecutive months the U.S. economy grew, according to National Bureau of Economic Research. Part of the reason the economy has been doing well is because it was coming off a low period, the Great Recession, which occurred in the early 2000s, the publication noted.
