In the United States, alcohol consumption is highly influenced by socio-economic status. Drinkers are more likely to be well educated and wealthy, according to a Gallup poll. 80 percent of those with a college degree drink alcohol compared to just 52 percent with a high school diploma or less. When it comes to earnings, 78 percent of people earning $75,000 or more drink alcohol while for those on $30,000 or less, it is just 45 percent.
This chart shows alcohol consumption by income and education in the US in 2015.
