Number of foreign games receiving a license in China 2016-2022
In 2022, China's National Press and Publication Administration (NPPA) granted licenses to a total of 44 imported video games. The authority introduced the approval measures in July 2016 and has tightened or suspended the examination process for a several times, resulting a plunge in game licenses issued in 2018, 2020, and 2021.
