Rio de Janeiro is the leading crude oil producing state in Brazil, accounting for more than 80 percent of the country's production in 2021, with nearly 855 million barrels produced. The state of São Paulo trailed in second, with an output of 99.2 million barrels that year. Brazil's crude oil production is mainly concentrated offshore.
