Gross non-performing asset value of public sector banks India FY 2018-2020

Indian public sector banks collectively owed approximately 6.8 trillion Indian rupees as non-performing assets at the end of fiscal year 2020. This value was much higher at around 7.5 trillion rupees in the previous fiscal year, indicating a slow but slight relief for India's economy in terms of non-paying assets at public banks.
Public sector banks in India consist of 19 nationalized banks, the State Bank of India and other associate banks of the State Bank of India. At the same time, the government of India is the major stakeholder in all these banks.
