Distribution of coal reserves in Russia in 2018, by basin

The Kansk-Achinsk coal basin, located in the Central Siberia, had the largest share of coal reserves in Russia, measuring at over 40 percent as of year-end 2018. The Kuznetsk Basin, or Kuzbass in the Western Siberia was the second major coal basin, accounting for approximately 28 percent of the total. Russia's proven coal reserves amounted to more than 162 billion metric tons in 2019.
