Share of young people who played video games in the past year Japan 2019
According to a survey conducted in Japan from January to March 2019, about 85 percent of respondents aged 10 to 29 years old had played video games either on a console, pc, or smartphone in the last twelve months. The survey was conducted with a focus on gaming disorders. Gaming disorders were recognized by the World Health Organization (WHO) as a medical condition in May 2019.
