On December 5th, the Netherlands celebrates Sinterklaas or Saint Nicholas. Traditionally, young children receive presents, families with older children might get creative and buy each other surprise gifts. To accompany the festivities there is seasonal candy, such as filled speculaas, pastry letters and pepernoten in all sorts of varieties. But what is the most popular Sinterklaas candy in the Netherlands? In 2019, it turned out to be the chocolate letter. Roughly one third of voters stated chocolate letters to be their favorite Sinterklaas candy.
