In 2021, freshwater aquaculture area resources in China amounted to around 4.98 million hectares, down from around 5.35 million hectares in 2016. Freshwater aquaculture areas in China saw a continuous negative growth trend over recent years. In contrast, the size of ocean aquaculture areas in China remained roughly stable.
