As of 2020, natural gas imports into Africa declined to roughly 9.5 billion standard cubic meters, down from 10.1 billion standard cubic meters in the previous year. In fact, after a peak of roughly 18 billion standard cubic meters in 2016, the import volume of natural gas into the continent decreased steadily.
