Japan: opinion on raising age of sexual consent 2022

According to a survey conducted in 2022 on gender equality in Japan, 43 percent of respondents were indifferent towards an increase in the minimum age for sexual consent. While over 38 percent of survey participants agreed that 13 years of age is too young to consent to sexual activities, close to 19 percent believed at least to some extent that there is no need to raise the current minimum age.
