Biotechnology: personalized medicine projects in development Spain 2023

As of February 2023, cancer was the therapeutic area with the largest share of biotechnology diagnostics and personalized medicine projects in development in Spain, with approximately 28 percent of the total. Biotech pipelines focusing on infections, including COVID-19, followed with a share of 16 percent of the current projects in the diagnostics and personalized medicine segment. According to a survey, around 45 percent of biotechnology companies in the European country changed their line of research to COVID-19 in 2020.
