Share of companies performing R&D biotech activities in Spain 2020, by field
In 2020, more than half of the Spanish companies and organizations performing research and development activities in biotechnology focused on bioprocesses. Meanwhile, those specializing in DNA or genetic code reached approximately 39 percent of the total firms and institutions conducting R&D activities in the Spanish biotechnology industry. As of that year, the total internal expenditure allocated to R&D activities in biotech attained over two billion euros in Spain.
