
Share of the Shorouk Block ownership in Egypt in 2019, by company
The multinational Italian oil and gas company, Eni, owns 50 percent of the stakes in the Shorouk Block located in the Mediterranean Sea. The importance of the block was noticed in 2015 after the company discovered the Zohr gas field, the largest natural gas field in the Mediterranean Sea. Moreover, the British Petroleum Company (BP) and Mubadala Petroleum each owned 10 percent of the stakes in the block.
