The eSports industry has boomed in recent years, in no small part thanks to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, which forced people to seek alternative forms of entertainment during the widescale cancelation of professional sporting events. During a survey of eSports executives from across the world in October 2021, around 47 percent of respondents felt that COVID friction at live events would be one of the main drivers for increased investment in eSports over the next six months.
