The eSports industry has boomed in recent years, in no small part thanks to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, which forced people to seek alternative forms of entertainment during the widescale cancelation of professional sporting events. During a survey of eSports executives from across the world in October 2021, half of respondents believed that traditional professional sports teams and leagues, athletes and celebrities were likely to increase the amount of their investment in the eSports industry over the next year.
